Over 20 years of experience in the education, arts, and media fields. PhD in international education policy. Research interests in public policy, governance, participatory democracy, international cooperation, development studies, and communication for development (C4D). Extensive experience in Latin America designing and implementing education, communication and social impact programs.

SELECT PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Associate Professor and Director of Education Research Center, December 2016-present Current Director of Research Center at Faculty of Education. Coordinate the public policy in education research group. I teach courses on Education Policy Analysis, Educational Quality in Latin America, Qualitative Research Methods, Education for Sustainable Development and Historical and Philosophical Foundations of Education. Current and recent research projects include Colombia co-lead researcher for global INEE study on educational crises management in the context of COVID-19, comparative case study of educational improvement in context of decentralization in select Colombia regions with Natura Foundation; socioemotional learning through arts education for rural schools with the Teatro Mayor; and local coordinator for global health promotion in early childhood study with Icahn School of Medicine.

Senior Consultant Strategic Alliances for Social Impact, Latin America, June 2013-2016

As Senior consultant for Strategic Alliances for Social Impact I engaged with high-level regional public and private actors to build partnerships and secure resources for Sesame´s work in the region. I successfully secured over 5 million USD in local support from a coalition of governments and foundations to design and produce innovative transmedia programs in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru since 2013.

Director of International Education, Research, and Outreach, September 2009-June 2013

As Director I oversaw the expansion of our education and outreach work in Latin America and Western Europe. In this capacity I managed country specific and global programs focusing on using an entertainment education model to promote behavior change in health and education. I also oversaw a 50% growth in our educational outreach programs in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Spain.
